The StartUp plan is exactly what the name implies. It is designed for a single project. If you have a personal portfolio, a small local business brochure site, or a blog that is just finding its footing, this environment works well.

Under the hood, you are getting the same Google Cloud infrastructure as the higher tiers, which means reliability is solid. However, SiteGround restricts the “extras” here. You do not get the advanced SuperCacher options (specifically Ultrafast PHP), and you are strictly limited to one domain.

The biggest friction point for many users on this plan is the lack of on-demand backup tools. While SiteGround performs automated daily backups, you cannot simply click a button to create a “snapshot” before updating a plugin. You have to rely on the system’s automated schedule or pay extra for the restore functionality.
